#Vanlife rejoice! VW has unveiled the long-wheel-base ID.Buzz for North America.

An electric homage to the iconic Microbus offers 3-row seating, more power and a bigger battery

Our take

Here at EV.Guide we love having FUN with EVs. That's why we cover Motorsports, and Supercars, and now VW has given us a new category of fun: a big grinning adventure vehicle in bright skittles colors. This is no sports car, but it's a big container to create the sort of memories that make us remember the original so fondly: sun-drenched surf, late-night campsites, laughter from the back of the bus. There are few van options currently available but we think this one really hits the right notes on styling and packaging, with the hazy glow of nostalgia. Electric power is great for the beach, the campsite, the small business and the road trip and these are all of the places where the original Microbus etched its way into our hearts decades ago. Being able to run power for camping kit or even just run climate while taking a break from the surf without having to idle an engine is a huge benefit. Having extra cargo volume for boards or bikes or beds helps even more. Suffice it to say, we're excited to get out hands on one of these.
